Dohne
Narriah Dohne Stud |
Narriah Dohne Stud was founded in 2002 after the initial purchase of embryos from Roseville Park. Embryo transfer and AI have since been used to increase quality & ewes numbers.
Breeding Objectives
Narriah Dohne Stud is looking to breed fast maturing, well muscled animals with sound constitution in addition to good width and depth in the hindquarters.
Wool must be bright and white, long stapled and have good character, lustre and nourishment. Our naturally mated Dohne ewes have been averaging between 140-150% lambing. Attention to fertility and mothering ability is a high priority in our breeding program.
To ensure the quality of our foundation ewe base was of a high quality, extensive ET programs were used in the early years using the top Dohne sires. Recently, the purchase of top quality sires and an annual AI program has ensured that we are producing sheep that are consistent with the leading Dohne genetics.

The 2008 National Dohne Sale at Dubbo realised good clearances and prices with Narriah purchasing an outstanding sire for the 3rd top price of $6000 from Macquarie Dohne Stud. Outstanding wool characteristics, great staple length and nourishment as well as great carcass muscling made this sire an obvious choice for our future breeding programs being 100% consistent with their long term breeding objectives.
