Tips for First Time Users
Listing with SheepOnline is as easy as describing what you have to offer to your best mate. Keep it simple and informative with a few photos and links to relevant information. Do not be tempted to go into too much detail, just enough to accurately and clearly describe the service or item you are offering. All listings will be uploaded exactly as you submit them (provided there are no errors). Any additions or developments regarding advertising can be made at your request, and you will be invoiced at a hourly rate for any work by SheepOnline in addition to your listing fee.
FOR SALE
When listing For Sale items, you have the opportunity to, not only have your item appear on the multiple listing page, but allow those interested to proceed to a larger page which contains a more detailed description, contact details and links to further information regarding your listed item. When entering the description of your listing, write as much important information into the first 20 words as this will become the description within your short listing that will initially appear under the multiple listing page.
The first photo you upload will appear on the multiple listing page and you may submit an extra 2 photos for inclusion on the larger, more detail page. Please attempt to keep the file size of your photos to less than 100Kb. There are a number of image reduction programs that will allow you to reduce file size of images. If you are having difficulties in this area, please contact us. Smaller photos will reduce the time it will take to download your listing and save time for all concerned.
If your sheep are part of the Lambplan or ABRI data base, please provide a link or details so pedigree and perfromance details can be included in your listing.
If you are advertising an auction sale or multivendor sale, SheepOnline can provide a link to your sale catalogue. If you already have an online catalogue, we can link to a copy of the catalogue as provided by you at no extra charge. If you do not have a catalogue online, we can generate one for you at a small cost which we can then link to your listing. The date and details of your Auction Sale will also be listed under the Events Listing at no additional charge. Links to websites are not permitted under the Sheep/Semen For Sale categories.
WANTED TO BUY
For listing items under the Wanted to Buy category, the process is similar to the For Sale listing except that there is no requirement for a photo. A description of the item or sheep your are searching for and your conatct details are all that is required. Your contact details will appear on the More detail page so as not to crowd the multiple listing page and also to allow viewing to your details by only those who are interested in your listed items.
SHEEP SERVICES
Professional services to the sheep industry are an important part of the overall structure of the industry. When compiling your listing, once again the first 20 words will make up the detail on your short mutiple listing page, but you may wish to provide more specific details including pricing, specific areas of expertise, testimonials and qualifications on the larger more detail page. Photos or a logo (limit of 5) are allowed to give you the freedom to make this listing an effective and complete advertising page for your business listing all that you have to offer. We can generate this page for you if you wish and work with you to make it as informative as possible. All listings under Sheep Services are permitted to include a link to their website if available or we can set up this page as your web information link.
EVENTS & DIRECTORY
This is a free listing and as such it is your responsibility to ensure it is kept up to date and relevant.
For Show societies, the show date, contact details and a link to a web site are all that is required including a logo for Royal or larger shows.
Conferences and Field Day listings can include a more detailed explanation of the event, no photos, but contact details and a link to more information or booking details. Please ensure you let us know when the event details are changed or cancelled. Also give us a date at which the listing can be deleted from the SheepOnline site.
Links to Breed Societies and non profit Organisations will be in the form of a small logo, if available, plus a link to a relevant site and contact details. It is not the responsibility of SheepOnline to keep these details updated.
Stud promotional links are available to any subscriber who uses the multiple Ad listing category provided they maintain more than 3 listings at any one time. SheepOnline will generate this link to eligible subscribers at no additional expense. These subscribers will also feature from time to time in our regular newsletter which will be distributed to visitors who have indicated they would like to receive a regular copy by email.
NEWSLETTER
A regular newsletter will be available through SheepOnline and also distributed through email to those who would like to receive regular information. If you are not advertising with SheepOnline but would like to receive a regular Newsletter, simply subscribe by adding your name and email address in the space provided on each page.
